Infrared is a natural radiation, which accounts for 50% of the total radiation of scarce spectrum of the sun. If infrared radiation on our skin, it triggers a pleasant feeling of warmth and that is why we called "heat radiation" means. Without a daily dose of infrared from the sun there would be no life on Earth.
The word "infrared" (infra, Latin below, beyond) makes it clear that a range of electromagnetic radiation is concerned, is above the red end of the visible light spectrum and thus contains no UV radiation in the radiation spectrum. However, there are big differences between different areas due to different infrared wavelengths. Infrared rays are divided into three different area, therefore:

Short-wave infrared (IR-A) Medium wave infrared (IR-B) Longwave infrared (IR-C)
In the heating technology one uses this property. Outside, short-wave infrared emitters are used with about 35% and 50% IR-A IR-B radiation for optimal efficiency and maximum depth. The high proportion of short-wave radiation, one sees a red light.
Why glass?
Scientific data show that glass better heat storage and heat release properties than powder-coated sheet metal, cast iron and even fire clay.
